GP Cellulose GmbH, in Zug, Switzerland, part of Georgia-Pacific’s Packaging and Cellulose Division, is hiring an experienced professional to act as ‘Technical Service Manager, and join our team in Zug, Switzerland.
In this role, you will be the technical interface between our customers, our business team covering the EMEIA area and our global organization in the US, including our mills, Quality, R&D, EHS. You will assist the customer in getting the most value from our pulps. You will also communicate information, as needed, to and from the customer and the Cellulose business and facilities.
Our Team
The team in Zug, Switzerland, where you will be located, comprises the sales and sales support functions for EMEIA, as well as some corporate function, with in total about 30 colleagues.
GP Cellulose (Atlanta, GA) owns and operates the three largest softwood pulp mills in North America, located in Brunswick, GA; New Augusta, MS; and Perdue Hill, AL; as well as a cotton linter pulp mill in Memphis, TN. The mills produce fluff pulp for the global absorbent hygiene and sanitary products businesses, bale pulp for the tissue, paper and filtration products industries, and specialty pulps for value-added papers and chemical cellulose applications. Beside the mill quality labs, the company also operates excellent R&D and Fluff Technical application laboratories in Memphis, TN and Brunswick, GA, respectively.
Your Job
* Work with the Sales Team to develop new customers and applications in the region. Support development by partnering with the Quality and Sales Teams in creating and executing trial orders.
* Oversee customers and our products’ performance in the entire region from the technical, regulatory and sustainability points of view.
* Build relationships with key partners at our customers’ sites to become a trusted first contact for technical questions or complaints.
* Provide technical support for customers in the EMEIA Region, including troubleshooting (line assessment), trial support and training, working in collaboration with the Senior Director, Global Sales and Supply GP - Cellulose GmbH, the Sales Team and the Senior Director, Technical Services.
* Offer the support of our Labs to evaluate trials for new business, troubleshoot problems, or sustain quality for ongoing business.
* Be able to interpret Fluff or R&D Lab Reports in order to properly diagnose issues and suggest proper corrections or process improvements.
* Perform regular product surveys of the EMEIA Regional Market that our various customers compete in to provide them better knowledge of their marketplace and assist them in understanding product trends.
* Participate in customer projects such as 6-Sigma, cost reduction, product core performance, etc., whenever we see opportunities to leverage our abilities and grow and secure the business.
* Build relationships with machine manufactures in the region. Keep up with changes to machine designs and new equipment development. Support new machine purchases by our customers with trial rolls and help them be successful by properly setting the machine on GP pulp before it ships from the builder.
* Support machine manufacturers for any kind of trials which will help make improvements on their Fiberization / Core-Forming- and Compaction- systems.
Your Profile
* Willingness to travel to customers sites globally for presentations, discussions and support trials, hands on (~30%).
* Educational background in an engineering or other scientific discipline.
* Open-minded service mentality, with market driven entrepreneurship.
* Extensive industrial experience in absorbent hygiene/food, or related industries
* Basic understanding of pulp and paper, mechanics and chemistry.
* Understanding/experience with operating hygiene and/or airlaid production lines.
* Understanding of product performance criteria of hygiene products.
* Strictly maintain business ethics, company standards, and compliance.
What Will Put You Ahead
* Experience with the dry converting and forming from fluff pulp rolls or sheets by hammermill and vacuum forming.
* Knowledge of the different fluff pulps that are on the market, and their relative performance.
* Technical background in the Kraft pulping and Fluff Pulp sheet forming processes.
* Able to work in a customer-facing and public-facing (conferences, trade shows) role.
* Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing Knowledge.
