Job Description
The position requires the development of state-of-the-art automated and robot-assisted experimental setups with a small team of experienced researchers. The focus is on enhancing and maintaining LabView programs to automate mechanical experiments, control devices, acquire data, and perform post-processing operations.
This involves:
* Integration of components to automate mechanical experiments: programming of acquisition cards, machine vision, robotics, and test automation software with National Instruments LabView
* Design and construction of testing equipment with team members, including mechanical and electrical aspects
* Day-to-day operations and maintenance of existing devices
* Mechanical machining of simple parts or devices for lab operations
* Contacting suppliers for materials and parts

Education, Certifications, and Experience
* Technical vocational training or higher in Mechatronics/Electronics
* A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the industry or a similar environment
* National Instruments CLD/CLA certification is advantageous
* Familiarity with automation techniques and robotic systems used in experimental setups
* Experience in acquiring, processing, and analyzing experimental data
Software and Programs
* Techinical proficiency in developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LabView programs (2-5 years) to integrate hardware components and sensors
* Experience with CAD software for designing mechanical parts and assemblies (preferably Dassault SolidWorks)
Mechanical and Hands-on Skills
* Knowledge of setting up and conducting mechanical experiments, preferably with universal testing machines and split Hopkinson pressure bar systems
* Basic skills in machining to fabricate or modify simple mechanical components with CNC-machines or other machine shop tools
* Experience in bonding techniques, such as glueing and soldering of strain gauges
* Knowledge of designing electric switch cabinets
* Knowledge of microscopes and specimen preparation
Language Requirements
* Fluency in English and proficiency in German (B1)
