JOB PURPOSE
Working closely with Executives and Corporate Departments, the Hotel Director is responsible for delivering the best possible holiday experience to our guests by effectively managing the overall hotel operation onboard our ships. Acting as an ambassador for the MSC Brand Values, the Hotel Director continuously drives a guest-centric engagement with all departments and crew members.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Manage the entire Guest Experience and is fully responsible for guest satisfaction across all service areas of the vessel;
• Ensure that all Hotel Departments exceed Guest expectations;
• Work closely with the Master, Staff Captain and HR Director to ensure the best experience for our Crew Members;
• Work closely with the corporate department to implement and execute the MSC product in accordance with Company policy and procedures;
• Manage all Onboard Revenue Centers to drive and exceed sales and profit targets;
• Ensure the highest financial performance of the ship, cost maximization and Hotel budget cost control;
• Manage the efficient operation of the hotel stores, with analysis of stock control, usage, wastage, breakage, approval of requisitions and provision of stocktakes;
• Ensure adherence to governance and compliance of all appropriate canvas-specifics: Public Health, Hygiene, Sanitation and Safety policies, Environmental policies, procedures and plans;
• Lead by example, fully adhering to the MSC Code of Conduct, Ethics and Values;
• Inspire, manage, coach, delegate and empower Head of Departments and Crew Members;
• Ensure the compliance of all hotel Crew Members' MLC working and rest hours regulations;
• Prepare appraisals (IPM) of all direct reporting to the Hotel Director and support all Heads of Departments in ensuring that all Crew Members are trained and their performance is fairly and timely assessed;
• Understand, support, attend and participate as required in all emergency procedures and drills.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
•Minimum of 3 years of experience as shipboard Hotel Director/ General Manager in the cruise industry;
•Senior High School graduate. Equivalent to a college degree in Tourism (4 years), in Hotel Management, Economics and /or Fiscal Management;
•Ability to speak and write English fluently and at least another European language;
•High standard of interpersonal skills and PR experience with Guests at all levels;
•Substantial interpersonal, oral, written communication and negotiation skills;
•Proven ability to lead and work within a harmonious, productive team environment;
•Demonstrated diplomatic crisis and problem-handling skills;
•Demonstrated skills in F&B and Housekeeping management;
•Good knowledge of Public Health regulations (i.e. Shipsan, USPH, Anvisa etc.);
•Good knowledge of cash handling and banking/accounting/fiscal procedures;
•Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint;
•Good Knowledge of Hotel Management systems like Fidelio, Otalio, etc.
