Project Procurement Lead – CAPEX & Construction
Location: Visp, Switzerland
Contract: 18-Month Assignment (12 + 6 months)
About the Role
Are you an experienced Procurement Leader with a strong background in CAPEX investment projects? Do you thrive in complex construction and manufacturing environments, ensuring seamless procurement processes from planning to execution?
We are looking for a Project Procurement Lead to take strategic ownership of procurement activities for high-value infrastructure projects (ranging from CHF 5M to CHF 500M) at our site in Visp, with potential involvement across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Execution
* Develop and implement Procurement Execution Strategies for large-scale investment projects.
* Own the end-to-end procurement process, including expediting, contract management, and closeout.
* Manage risk, identify efficiencies, and ensure compliance throughout project execution.
Category & Supplier Management
* Lead procurement of goods, including:
o Process equipment, electrical equipment, AHUs, utilities pumps & valves
o Lab equipment, furniture, consumables, pumps, automation systems, and spare parts
* Oversee procurement of services, including:
o Construction, piping, HVAC, electrical & cleanroom fit-out
o Engineering, consulting, and planning services
* Negotiate contracts and ensure seamless vendor collaboration with EPCM/EPC partners and key suppliers.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Work closely with project procurement teams, category managers, and Lonza procurement leadership.
* Partner with Project Directors, Engineers, Quality, EHS, Legal, and Finance teams to align procurement goals.
* Maintain strong relationships with external partners to optimize procurement efficiency.
Who You Are
CAPEX Procurement Expert – 10+ years’ experience managing large-scale CAPEX procurement projects, ideally in the pharma/biotech/chemical industries.
Construction & Plant Procurement Knowledge – Strong understanding of plant construction, equipment sourcing, and supplier negotiations.
Commercial & Contract Management – Skilled in supplier management, risk mitigation, and contract negotiations.
Collaborative & Strategic – Able to work efficiently in matrix organizations and cross-functional teams.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Business-focused mindset with the ability to drive results.
Resilient & Adaptable – Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Requirements
Education: Technical training (ETH or FH) or equivalent in process, chemical, mechanical, civil, or plant engineering is an advantage.
Languages: Fluent English required; German is a plus.
