You will be part of SMG Real Estate Engineering, a remote-friendly department of 80+ engineers located in four countries (Switzerland, Serbia, Germany & Vietnam)
Job Description
Join us in this exciting role as a Senior/Expert Backend Engineer in our Vietnam office and help us build the future of the Swiss real estate market by contributing to our cutting-edge, cloud-based technology stack. You will design and architect robust backend solutions and drive technical initiatives to shape the future of our systems. You will get to collaborate and access the wealth of knowledge and experience from a community of amazing engineers who come from all parts of the globe.
About the position
2. You will design, implement, test, and deliver new features that bring value to our users.
3. You will encourage knowledge sharing and drive technical discussions within the team.
4. You will mentor, support, and develop software engineers by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities.
5. You will translate high-level ideas and requirements into practical solutions.
6. You will manage our services end-to-end, from development and testing to delivery and monitoring.
7. You will collaborate with other engineering teams and your existing team to ensure the stability of our microservices architecture.
8. You will challenge the status quo and continuously aim to improve the architecture, code, and tools to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
Our tech stack
9. Our front end is implemented with Vue.js / React, with Typescript as the language of choice. It consists of a mix of client-side, server-side, pre-rendered, and hybrid web apps.
10. Our backend is written in Node.js and Typescript, following a serverless and microservices architecture in a cloud based environment using AWS. Our main services leverage Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS and S3 among others.
11. Our monitoring is done mainly through Datadog and Sentry.
12. Our codebase and services are documented using Backstage.
Qualifications
We are looking for a talented individual who meets the following criteria:
13. You are fluent in verbal and written English.
14. You have an academic degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
15. You have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development and a strong track record of working with various backend technologies (Message Brokers, Caching, Queues, etc.).
16. You have expertise in backend technologies, particularly NodeJS, microservices, and serverless architectures, and you use this knowledge to create high-quality and maintainable code.
17. You have strong product awareness and care deeply about delivering value to users.
18. You provide mentorship and empower the team to advance their technical skills and comprehension.
19. You elevate our team with hands-on mentoring, pairing sessions, and in-depth code reviews focused on backend development.
20. You advocate for best practices and ensure our codebase is well-tested and of the highest quality.
