Director and Segment Lead Genomics

Your contribution
As the Director and Segment Lead for Genomics, you will develop and drive Tecan Genomics vision and strategy. Your role is pivotal in shaping and overseeing the Genomics solutions and product portfolio. You will be accountable for the prioritization of the segment roadmap, the corresponding R&D projects and for achieving revenue and profitability goals. You will work closely with Business Units to ensure the successful execution of our business strategies, guide product management and application teams, and lead strategic partnerships. You will also be responsible for driving M&A activities and cultivating targets to support our growth agenda.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and drive the Genomics vision and segment strategy
2. Create the future workflows/application solutions and products;
3. Drive the prioritization of R&D projects within Segment.
4. Coordinate activities across Business Units and lead the segment strategy
5. Manage the Genomics product portfolio and oversee sales in a matrix organization.
6. Ensure revenue and profitability targets are met for assigned products.
7. Identify M&A targets and participate in due diligence processes.
8. Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for Genomics within the Life Science Division.
9. Manage strategic partnerships and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs).
10. Develop and mentor team members to achieve targets and to enhance their capabilities and promote Tecan values.
11. Report out to senior management on core activities and segment performance.
12. Stay abreast of industry developments and incorporate relevant innovations
Your background
We’re not just looking for hard skills: We’re looking for people who bring their passion and talent to work.
13. Degree in Life Sciences (with specialization in Genomics is a must), with further education in Sales and Marketing or an MBA.
14. Over 10 years of experience in life sciences, with a strong focus on genomics (ideally both reagents and automation).
15. Excellent track record in managing diverse and geographically dispersed teams directly and indirectly as well in a matrix organization.
16. Proven experience in marketing, product management, and sales leadership in the life science sector.
17. Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to close complex B2B contracts.
18. Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
19. Fluency in English; additional languages like German are advantageous.
20. A hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to lead in multi-site locations.
