POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a six-month maternity cover, starting in the summer. The Design Manager reports to the Director of Design & Technical Services. The position coordinates the design development process on an established schedule within an approved budget. He / She supports the implementation of Aman’s standards and brand objectives through a focus on superior design strategies and solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and maintain strong relationships & communication with Project Consultants and Aman Corporate teams in a collaborative, team-focused manner that adds value to projects
2. Assist in the early formulation and feasibility stages of a project
3. Provide Technical Services guidance, attend project coordination workshops, ensure adherence to brand standards, and assist design and engineering consultant teams to develop the approved project design through to the working drawings
4. Assist in reviewing design consultant submitted drawings and specifications
5. Develop and track project schedules
6. Identify, work to resolve and communicate project-related issues and resolutions
7. Assist with Initial Project Reviews (IPR’s) and prepare Project Progress Reports (PPR’s)
8. Conduct site visits and prepare visit reports
9. Accurately communicate projects status. Update the Director of Design & Technical Services on a regular basis and provide projections for all design aspects and program delivery
10. Assist with ongoing development of corporate brand standards and process frameworks
QUALIFICATIONS
11. University degree in Architecture or Interior Design
12. Minimum 5+ years professional experience
13. Experience with coordinating consultants (Civil, MEP, Landscape, ID, etc.) on large-scale developments
14. Familiarity with all aspects of luxury hotel and resorts project delivery. Technical Services background with luxury hotel operator preferred
15. Fluent in written and spoken English (additional languages desirable)
16. Proficiency in AutoCad, SketchUp, Lumion, MS Office, Adobe Suite, knowledge of ReVu desirable
17. Familiarity and interest in office management systems and procedures
18. Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-national professional teams across multiple projects running concurrently
19. Excellent communication skills and efficient transmission of instructions, feedback, vision and understanding of broader project team members’ needs
20. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
21. Strong organizational skills allowing efficient time and data management and handling of multiple projects simultaneously
22. Ability to generate innovative solutions through resourceful problem solving
23. Strong work ethic and cultural sensitivity
24. Willing to travel
