Your Responsibilities
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, invites applications from talented scientists and software engineers to contribute to the development of its CVMFS software. This project enables distributed scientific computing across global cloud- and supercomputing sites.
You will:
* Improve the performance and usability of the CVMFS client and publisher.
* Collaborate with cloud- and supercomputing facilities to increase accessibility.
* Participate in baseline support and maintenance tasks.
Your Profile
Skills:
* Experience with software version control (e.g., Git) and build tooling.
* Knowledge of the C++ language: writing, compiling, and running programs; developing code for a package.
* Understanding of UNIX, particularly file API and filesystem concepts.
Optional but desirable skills include:
* Experience with container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
* Knowledge of the Go language.
* Experience with writing networking code in C++.
* Experience with HEP experiment software, their lifecycle, and build tools.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, you must:
* Be a national of a country listed on the CERN Assembly website .
* Have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in STEM or a related field.
* Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree as your highest educational qualification.
* Not have had a CERN fellowship or graduate contract before.
* Meet all other requirements specified on the CERN job portal.
