CERN's ATLAS experiment is seeking a talented Software Developer to contribute to the development and optimization of the ACTS toolkit, an experiment-agnostic track reconstruction software designed for high performance in the HL-LHC era and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, optimize, and maintain ACTS-based track finding, fitting, and vertex reconstruction software.
* Focus on adapting and fine-tuning the software for the ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) to ensure optimal performance.
* Lead and coordinate efforts to enhance the computational and physics performance of ACTS, supporting the ATLAS HL-LHC physics program.
* Serve as a core member of the ACTS development team, managing parts of the development and deployment processes.
* Provide advisory and supervision support to junior colleagues within ATLAS and collaborating institutions.
Your profile
Skills
* Proven experience with modern C++ programming techniques.
* Understanding of track reconstruction concepts, algorithms, and their efficient implementation in High-Energy Physics (HEP) experiments.
* Proficiency in software development tools and practices within a Linux environment.
* Ability to communicate opinions, ideas, and suggestions convincingly, clearly, and in a logical and structured manner, staying on topic.
Eligibility criteria:
* You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.

About CERN
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
We are on a Quest. A Journey into discovery like no other. Bring your expertise to our unique work and develop your knowledge and skills at pace. Join world-class subject matter experts on unique projects, in a Quest for greater knowledge and deeper understanding.
Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
