Laboratory Operations Assistant
Part or Full-Time
Position: Laboratory Operations Assistant
Location: near Winterthur, Zurich, Switzerland
Type: Part or Full-Time (80% – 100%)
Mission: As a Lab Operations Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and compliant day-to-day operations of a regulated laboratory environment. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and hands-on support will ensure that lab scientists can focus on high-impact experimental work while the infrastructure, materials, and documentation are maintained with excellence.
In this role, you will contribute to sample and reagent logistics, lab equipment oversight, and quality documentation, making you an integral part of the lab's operational efficiency and compliance with GLP, GCP, and GMP standards.
Key Accountabilities:
Sample and Reagent Management
- Receive, label, and record incoming samples and reagents in alignment with internal protocols.
- Maintain accurate inventory of samples, reagents, and consumables.
- Prepare, package, and ship samples according to applicable regulatory and safety guidelines.
Supply and Inventory Oversight
- Monitor stock levels and place replenishment orders to avoid interruptions in lab operations.
- Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain documentation and logs of all incoming and outgoing inventory.
Lab Equipment Management
- Write, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures for laboratory equipment.
- Perform or support routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of lab instruments.
- Record all maintenance activities in compliance with equipment logbook and audit standards.
Operational Support for Lab Scientists
- Assist in the preparation of buffers and basic lab reagents.
- Provide logistical and operational support during ongoing experiments and project activities.
Documentation & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all tasks and activities are documented in accordance with GLP, GCP, GMP or internal lab quality systems.
- Maintain up-to-date and audit-ready logs for samples, equipment, and supply chain activities.
- Support inspection and audit preparation through well-organized recordkeeping
Key Qualifications:
Education
- Completed apprenticeship in a relevant field, e.g. biology laboratory technician or bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, life sciences, or a related discipline.
Language
- Fluency in German is mandatory.
- Advanced proficiency in English is required.
Work Experience
- Prior experience in a regulated laboratory setting (GLP, GCP, GMP) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques, materials handling, and lab documentation systems.
Key Competencies
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and task tracking.
- Comfortable working with laboratory software, digital logs, and office software .
- Good understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols .
- Clear and efficient communicator across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work reliably, independently, and in a team-oriented, regulated environment.
