Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to join our team on site in Trimbach/Olten. This location is near the French and German borders, offering a unique opportunity for candidates from France and Germany to join our team.
Mission - Purpose of the job:
The successful candidate will ensure that all production operations are executed to satisfy customer needs in terms of quality, service and cost on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis.
Main Responsibilities:
* Leads definitions of production flows rules (one piece flow, launching rules, batching rules, takt times) in collaboration with other departments (engineering, methods, supervisors, workshop managers, supply chain, ...)
* Contributes to labs performance in terms of quality, cost and service setting objectives for main KPIs and monitors results. Organizes means and resources to reach those objectives (volumes produced, service, internal quality, WIP, late and lost orders, costs, productivity).
* Ensures required machines' capacities: knows machines capacities, knows bottlenecks, Request machines capacity adjustments to meet budgeted/forecasted volumes with respect of required service level
* Manages the production teams by planning staffing needs, assigning roles and responsibilities, conducting the performance cycle (performance reviews, career and development discussions, people reviews, …), orienting and training employees, ensures employee satisfaction and develops team through development plans
* Maintains lab equipment performance by developing operations staff, organizing audits/ gemba walks, assuring correct cooperation between Production and Maintenance, and proposing the capex budget to renew or maintain good technical level of the machine parc
* Ensures a continuous improvement culture is developed and maintained, motivates and rewards improvement ideas and results, and proposes local engineering processes standards improvement
* Contributes to reduction of environmental aspects & impacts (waste, water, energy) constructing an environmental roadmap together with Maintenance and EHS.
* Represents the lab in and out of the factory by developing good relationships with customer and group support functions.
Profile:
* High School diploma or bachelor degree
* Extensive experience in the optical industry, product manufacturing, or mechanics
* Proven track record in managing and leading teams
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to set clear direction and motivate team members
* Hands-on approach with a focus on practical solutions and implementation
* Commitment to fostering continuous improvement in processes and operations
* Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic thinking
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Fluency in German is required; intermediate proficiency in English is necessary
