The Paralegal Specialist - Intellectual Property will provide dedicated support to the Intellectual Property (IP) team within the IP Department. This role focuses on protecting and managing the company's intellectual property portfolio, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and supporting IP litigation and transactional matters. The Paralegal Specialist will assist with patent and trademark filings, maintain IP databases, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to safeguard the company's innovations and brand.
The candidate will be responsible for managing the following activities:
maintain accurate records of the company's IP assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, monitoring mailboxes and processing incoming correspondence, updating records system in respect of deadlines and formalities;
support IP filings, renewals, and maintenance with patent and trademark offices, managing deadlines and ensuring timely actions;
conduct legal research on IP law, case law, and relevant legal changes;
draft and review correspondence, assist in drafting agreements, and legal documents for IP matters, including licensing, confidentiality, and non-disclosure agreements;
liaise with foreign associates;
work closely with R&D, Product Development, Marketing, and other departments to ensure that IP rights are aligned with the company's strategic goals;
provide guidance to internal stakeholders on IP policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring compliance with IP-related policies;
support IP litigation and dispute resolution, including case preparation, document collection, and evidence management;
maintain the IP database, ensuring accurate, up-to-date records for all IP assets and managing access for internal stakeholders.
Hard Skills:
high School diploma with good working experience in IP field or Bachelor’s degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field;
certification in paralegal studies or equivalent experience is preferred, QPIP certification would be a plus;
minimum 3-5 years of experience in a paralegal role, with a focus on intellectual property;
knowledge of IP management systems and familiarity with IP filing processes in the EU, US, and other relevant jurisdictions;
fluent in English.
