MISSION
The Deputy Logistics Manager manages the daily logistics operations, ensuring the current modus operandi is aligned with the business objectives in terms of efficiency, material flow optimization, and cost-effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will work closely internally with the import- & export coordinators and customs specialist, and our operations- & sales department including trade desk, and externally with secure logistics service providers. The role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills under time constraints, and excellent communication abilities.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plans, coordinates & oversees daily logistics activities, including domestic & international forwarding activities, warehousing, and domestic distribution by air- & seafreight, including overland transportation.
• Monitors, analyses & optimizes logistics processes to ensure lead times adherence, efficiency, and cost optimization.
• In conjunction with the logistics manager, manages relationships with domestic and international suppliers, logistics partners, airlines, warehouse operators, etc.
• Coordinates the Ticino logistics team, balances workloads, assigns tasks, and monitors performance in conjunction with the logistics manager.
• Handles & resolves irregularities with the various involved parties.
• Prepares, analyses and evaluates logistics reports to track performance and identify & recommend areas for improvement based on existing KPIs.
• Ensures compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinates & assists with international cross-trade shipments of the group.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A degree as a forwarding merchant, logistics and/or supply chain management is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of domestic and international transportation processes by air- & seafreight including overland transportation.
• Proven experience in an international forwarding, logistics, supply chain management environment with a minimum of 5 years of solid experience gained ideally in a reputable 3PL and/or with an international secure logistics company.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills along with an agile attitude and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) including Oracle.
