Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Bell Attendant position is responsible for meeting, greeting, and assisting in transporting guests to tourist areas, providing information on the local area, and ensuring delivery and retrieval of luggage to all guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner.
Duties & Functions:
1. Greet arriving guests and retrieve their luggage.
2. Escort guests to their rooms, explain the room facilities, and sell the hotel’s various outlets (restaurant, bar, spa).
3. Deliver luggage, messages, faxes, packages, etc., for guests and undertake various other requests to ensure their comfort.
4. Transport departing guests’ luggage from the room to the lobby, ensuring that the guest has verified that all luggage has been accounted for.
5. Ensure that luggage has been stored safely according to prescribed procedures.
6. Ensure that the luggage storage area is kept clean and tidy at all times.
7. Inform guests with savvy knowledge of the hotel, its services, the city, and local happenings.
8. Be fully aware of what functions are going on in the hotel.
9. Able to drive in a safe and efficient manner.
10. Able to keep a record of all incidents while driving, for example, any accidents or tickets.
11. Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the guests while traveling.
12. Provide gracious, attentive, and friendly service.
13. Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
14. Recognize that we are in the hospitality industry and may require us to provide lateral service. We may occasionally call for each individual in the team to perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional guest service.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the venue teams.
2. Communicate with employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions, and provide accurate information.
3. Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy restaurant activity, serving as a role model for the team and other employees. Interact with other department personnel and venue staff as needed.
4. Make decisions and take actions based on previous experience and good judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
