Offer Description
As a Software Engineer, you will join the Measurement, Test & Analysis team within the Beams department.
This role is central to our efforts in supporting the ETBS, RADE (Rapid Application Development Environment), and client projects, including the ETBS electron gun and other exciting internal initiatives.
Your responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to develop user and expert testbench applications, distributed control systems, and configuration tools.
You will:
* Design, develop, and maintain user and expert testbench applications;
* Develop and implement distributed control systems, user applications, and configuration tools;
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver robust software solutions;
* Ensure seamless integration and optimization of software systems with existing hardware and workflows;
* Perform thorough testing, debugging, and documentation of software to ensure quality and reliability;
* Stay updated on emerging software technologies and best practices to continuously improve project outcomes;
* Knowledge of software engineering practices, source code management, and bug tracking;
* Knowledge of Python & LabVIEW programming;
* Basic knowledge in Linux and Windows OS;
* Ability to work in a team;
* Knowledge of Continuous Integration (Jenkins, GitlabCI etc.) would be an advantage;
* Fluent in English; the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

* You have a professional background in Software Engineering and IT (or a related field) and have either:
o a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
o or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
* You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
