Within Partnerships & External Supply (PES) of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines Supply Chain (Supply Chain), we are excited to recruit this Director role, preferably located in Belgium (Beerse), Switzerland (Zug) or Ireland (Cork).
The PES LM DS Director is responsible for supply of new and commercial biotherapeutic products. The role leads strategic CMOs to ensure reliable supply, provide the highest quality at the optimal total cost of ownership, and achieve maximum relationship value through innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration. The external relationships are highly sophisticated in nature and require extensive interaction with key business partners and senior internal and external leadership. The role coordinates, designs, and allocates specific responsibilities across the team. The role handles a spend that can exceed $300MM. The role has a broad understanding of the external landscape and drives decisions across the platform.
The role reports to the Sr. Director, Partnerships & External Supply, Large Molecule Drug Substance.
Responsibilities
Partner Management
You are responsible for introducing New Products at the CMO and managing a reliable supply of biotherapeutics. As the virtual GM, you are leading the (virtual) team in partner management, providing oversight of all activities and financials and aligning with stakeholders. You establish and maintain performance metrics and targets with the goal of improving supply, processes, and systems and eliminating inefficiencies. You partner with procurement in agreement negotiations and finance for budget planning and ensure proper functional inputs. You define and prioritize requirements, expectations, results, and partner needs.
You lead the team to manage issue resolution, compliance to supply agreements, and overall cost management including cost reduction opportunities. Define and establish priorities, requirements, expectations, results, and partner needs between J&J functions and partners.
You oversee implementation of new product launches at partners to ensure timely product availability and manage plans related to implementation of product changes.
You lead and develop a (virtual) team to ensure strong results through effective performance management and development planning. You deploy people at their strengths and coach them to be at their best.
Strategic Leadership
You shape the external network & strategy by providing input on the external landscape related to partners and CMOs. You benchmark companies and industries to identify innovations, continuous improvement, and outstanding processes to support PES and business development initiatives. You have a profound understanding of evolving market opportunities and communicate this throughout the organization and you ensure the team is acting as a single point of contact to link & implement strategic initiatives such as Digital Strategy, Capacity Expansions, and Operational excellence at CMOs.
Partner Assessment
Assess partners’ capacity and capabilities to support sourcing initiatives. Lead partner assessment and new product implementation in coordination with overall SC functions, including site visits. Define technology transfer expectations and supply strategy with partners.
Qualifications
* A minimum of a Master degree is required; other advanced degree is preferred.
* 8+ years of experience in E2E Pharma manufacturing (preferably in biotherapeutics drug substance AND drug product) and business management experience.
* 3+ years of People Management experience, demonstrated cross-cultural people and team leadership. Strong background in attracting and developing talent & leading cross-functional teams and building strong team culture.
* High level of credibility with internal customers, and within the external manufacturing supply chain community.
* Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints, has ‘Executive presence’.
* Demonstrated knowledge of functions including Quality, Technical Operations, Finance, Planning and Procurement.
* Understanding of end-to-end supply chain considerations and methods of driving continuous improvement.
* Demonstrated flexibility to respond to changing environments.
* Prior success in major change role as architect and/or implementation lead is an asset.
* Exhibits excellent written and oral presentation skills.
* Position may require up to 25% travel, both domestic and international.
