We are looking for an experienced Payload Systems Engineer to join a team at the forefront of technology in satellite communication (SatCom) systems and payload design. If you’re ready to make an impact, act fearlessly, and thrive in an innovative R&D environment, we’d like to hear from you!
About the Role
As a Payload Systems Engineer, you’ll contribute to the development of advanced SatCom architectures. Your expertise in designing sophisticated communication space payloads, including transponders, onboard processing units, and beamforming systems, will be pivotal. This role requires collaboration across system definition, subsystem co-design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and qualification.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Leading mission analysis for communication space system requirements and flow-downs.
2. Conducting SWaPC analysis, defining interfaces (digital, electrical, RF, optical, mechanical/thermal, etc.), and engaging subcontractors and partners.
3. Providing technical expertise and challenging external contractors.
4. Supporting reliability analysis, space qualification activities, and program management.
5. Participating in integration, launch, in-orbit commissioning, and preparing reports and presentations for design reviews and progress updates.
Your Profile
1. MS/PhD in Engineering (e.g., SatCom, Telecommunications, Electronics, Digital Systems, Automation).
2. 8–10 years of proven experience in:
SatCom and communication payload architectures for LEO/MEO/GEO/HEO.
HW/SW design and integration for space applications.
Digital design for space communications and digital regenerative payloads.
Inter-satellite links and digital phased array antennas.
1. Experience with orbital analysis tools, Telemetry, Tracking, and Control (TT&C), and tools like Ansys Systems Tool Kit (STK).
2. Knowledge of satellite operations, TT&C, payload operations, and network management facilities.
3. EU Passport Holder
4. Experience working on ESA/NASA telecom programs.
5. A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for tackling technical challenges.
