Our Immunology Disease Area in Biomedical Research division in Novartis is dedicated to world-class research and finding breakthroughs in treatments for millions of patients worldwide suffering from Immunological conditions and diseases. We are currently seeking a senior level Molecular Pathologist with either a Medical or Veterinary doctoral background and a Pathology certification, to join our teams and lead a lab in the Immunology Disease area and help us tackle some of the most challenging unmet needs.

Job Description
You will be part of a cross-disciplinary team, working with various labs in Immunology. A strong emphasis for this role is placed on effective teamwork, networking across teams, and development of successful partnerships with academic leaders worldwide.
Your responsibilities will include but are not restricted to:
1. Lead an experimental pathology lab within the Molecular Pathology group, in Immunology Translational Research.
2. Use tissue samples from healthy humans, patients suffering from immunological diseases and corresponding animal models for:
* Disease understanding
* Target validation
* Biomarker discovery (pathway-based and pharmacodynamic)
1. Implement spatial omics technologies
2. Use of state-of-the-art imaging modalities and digital image analysis to address key scientific questions
3. Provide pathology expertise for tissue biomarkers in clinical studies
4. Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams in discovery and translational research
Minimum requirements – What you will bring to the role:
1. MD or DVM with relevant human or veterinary pathology experience; plus PhD-level research background
2. You must be a Board-certified Pathologist or Veterinary Pathologist
3. Strong Experimental Pathology background / expertise
4. Experience in animal mechanistic and disease models as well as human biosamples
5. Strong background and hands-on expertise in immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization, including method development
6. Strong leadership skills – experienced team leader with direct reports, including professional development of team members
7. Excellent presentation and communication skills in English (oral and written), innovative thinking and project management skills
Desirable:
1. Prior experience in spatial omics will be an advantage
2. Knowledge of or interest in autoimmune and dermatological diseases is highly desirable
