About the Role
As a disciplinary leader, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of 12-15 scientists and technical experts. Your primary objectives are to develop new aluminium alloy solutions with high recycling content and collaborate with the process optimization team to design tailored processes.
Main Responsibilities
* Develop and implement melt purification techniques for utilising lower-quality scrap materials.
* Manage scrap within our production and provide guidance to plants on evaluating and handling scrap for optimal recovery.
* Provide technical expertise to support the production process in melting and casting.
* Promote industrialization of technologies using alternative green energies.
* Evaluate project feasibility and ensure alignment with key business goals and strategy.
* Lead high-priority projects supporting business objectives and prioritise tasks to deliver maximum value.
* Oversee delivery of high-quality research and measure its impact on the organisation.
* Foster connections between scientific work and individual business areas and production at Speira.
* Cultivate your team's skills through coaching and development.
Requirements
Qualifications for Success
* Degree (preferably with a PhD) in materials science or a related field, focusing on metallic materials.
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in management or leadership roles, preferably in alloy development.
* Ability to develop people, processes, and strategies while adapting communication styles to stakeholders.
* Strong project management and communication skills.
* Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; knowledge of statistical data evaluation is valuable.
* In-depth understanding of aluminium metallurgy: microstructure, alloying additions, mechanical properties, and their interconnections.
* Knowledge of processing and the aluminium rolled products process chain, particularly casting and melting processes.
* Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and teamwork skills.
* Proficiency in German and English is essential; additional languages are beneficial.
