Introduction
MANCOSA, a DHET registered and CHE accredited private higher education distance education provider, offering undergraduate and postgraduate business qualifications, has the following vacancy available in the School of Global Tourism and Hospitality.
Core Functions Include:
1. Responsible for the effective management and support of students prior to, during and upon completion of their Work Integrated Learning.
2. Providing timeous inputs, statistical analysis and reports to the Academic Program Leader (APL) on all matters relating to WIL.
3. Efficiently and effectively responding to queries from students.
4. Manage, deliver and participate in conjunction with the Academic Program Leader (APL) in training events, workshops, boot camps, student orientations and presentations to students with a focus on developing a deeper understanding of WIL.
5. Responsible for the effective leadership of property mentors prior, during and upon completion of WIL.
6. Oversee and maintain property mentors database.
7. Facilitate networking and/or partnership sessions with property mentors.
8. Plan, organise, manage and facilitate WIL events/activities.
9. Responsible for developing, training and maintaining all aspects of WIL, WIL Policy and SOPs.
10. Liaise with WIL students concerning non-academic performance and behaviour in properties.
11. Responsible for Academic Delivery (facilitation, assessments, curriculum).
12. Assessing, grading and reviewing of students’ work.
13. Responsible for obtaining property mentors assessments in order to compile the final Portfolio of Evidence (PoE).
14. Prepare and maintain WIL assessments for verification and audits.
15. Work closely with the student support division regarding the design, development and implementation of student-academic intervention plans.
16. Undertake curriculum and Handbook reviews as and when required and provide feedback to Academic Programme Managers with the view of updates and improvement.
Qualification
Essential qualification: A Tourism and Hospitality Post Graduate Diploma
Experience and Skills
1. 2 years relevant Tourism and Hospitality working experience.
2. Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in Learner Management System administration/coordination.
3. Academic administrative background.
4. Strong organisational and planning skills.
5. An ability to interact positively with students, Property Mentors and other stakeholders.
6. Ability to implement processes and procedures.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Self-motivated individual who shows initiative and the ability to function as a team member.
9. Ability to work under pressure, but better still the ability to plan to avoid last minute pressure situations.
10. A high degree of integrity.
11. Competence in MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Internet and Outlook.
Advantages
1. 3-5 years relevant Tourism and Hospitality working experience.
2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Learner Management System administration/coordination.
3. Academic administrative background in WIL operating systems.
General
To demonstrate practical and academic acumen and provide relevant administration functions within the WIL spectrum.
