We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to enhance our preclinical team and contribute to the development of innovative therapeutic modalities. This position is a one-year fixed-term opportunity that offers a tremendous chance to support our portfolio companies within an experienced, vibrant, and agile biotech team.
In this role, you will bring hands-on expertise in protein characterization and developability studies, while contributing to a dynamic and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive and enthusiastic team player with strong analytical and organizational abilities, eager to expand their skills beyond their core expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform analytical testing of diverse therapeutic modalities to support product characterization and quality control.
2. Design and execute developability studies, including stress tests and analytical screenings, with therapeutic development candidates.
3. Design and perform formulation screenings, including feasibility studies for high-concentration formulations.
4. Adapt and optimize experimental approaches based on modalities, leveraging literature research to inform study design.
5. Develop and implement novel, state-of-the-art characterization techniques.
6. Support outsourced preclinical studies as CRO coordinator and manage study logistics.
7. Review, analyze, and interpret experimental data, generating clear figures and tables for presentations and technical reports.
8. Serve as a technical expert in project team meetings, providing data-driven recommendations for candidate selection.
9. Accurately and promptly document experimental results in electronic lab notebooks in compliance with internal standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience in academia, biotechnology, or the pharmaceutical industry.
2. Comprehensive understanding and practical expertise in analytical tools for protein characterization, including chromatography techniques (e.g., SEC, HIC, IEX) and electrophoretic methods (e.g., cIEF, CE-SDS).
3. Experience in small molecule characterization and formulation is a strong plus.
4. Prior hands-on experience with mass spectrometry is highly desirable.
5. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of scientific rigor, precision, and attention to detail in experimental design and execution.
