Key Account Manager (Switzerland) – Rare Diseases – 6159
Our client is currently looking for a Key Account Manager Rare Diseases to join the team to develop the medical strategy for their new products in Switzerland.
The Key Account Manager (KAM) – Rare Diseases will play a pivotal role in driving the success of the Company products in the Swiss market.
This field-based, customer/patient-focused role involves developing and maintaining strategic relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), specialists, and key hospitals, particularly in the therapeutic areas relevant to rare diseases. The KAM is responsible for identifying patient pathways, raising disease awareness, and promoting the company priority brands to ensure increased sales and achievement of budgetary targets. By leveraging customer insights, the KAM will implement business strategies that ensure the optimal access and prescription of medications.
You will report to the Country Manager and be responsible for the Swiss Market.
This is a permanent position based in Switzerland with fully remote/field-based work.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage relationships with healthcare professionals, hospital specialists, and stakeholders while maintaining long-term engagements with existing customers.
2. Increase product sales by implementing sales and marketing strategies, identifying and prioritizing sales opportunities among existing and potential customers, and demonstrate the portfolio value proposition.
3. Along with marketing, access and medical departments, help develop and implement KOL engagement strategy.
4. Plan and analyze territory management, including product launch preparations.
5. Analyze and understand the patient flow within each hospital, identifying key drivers and barriers to achieving sales objectives.
6. Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, group meetings, speaker events, and participate in medical/pharmaceutical events (congresses, symposia, seminars).
7. Deliver scientific presentations and manage key opinion leader (KOL) engagements.
8. Collaborate with internal teams to drive growth and ensure product access.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Relevant Swiss working/residency permit and/or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required.
2. Life sciences degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) required.
3. Proven sales experience in hospital or specialty care, preferably in rare diseases.
4. Fluent in German and English, French or Italian is a strong advantage.
5. At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position in the pharmaceutical industry, oncology, hematology, endocrinology field experience preferred.
6. In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, Swiss market dynamics, treatment guidelines, and healthcare regulations in Switzerland.
7. Strong business acumen and ability to develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve sales targets.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders.
9. Effective communication with a self-motivated, goal-oriented approach.
10. A team player with a passion for continuous learning and self-development.
