The Position
As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Cancer Cell Targeted Therapies (CCTT), you will focus on exploratory research projects on genome stability and DNA repair. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our cross-functional team in order to strengthen and advance our efforts in the area of DNA Damage Response (DDR) and Synthetic Lethality for the treatment of various cancer types.
In this position, you will:
1. Perform cutting edge science using molecular and cell biology assays, including fluorescence microscopy and CRISPR technologies.
2. Design and execute experiments and perform data analysis.
3. Communicate scientific progress through internal meetings and publications.
You are a curious, science-driven and highly motivated researcher with the aspiration to influence your professional development and to be part of a dynamic and growing organization where you can continuously learn and innovate.
You have very good interpersonal and communication skills, are able to build good working relationships, and are an outstanding teammate. Your experience and investigative attitude allow you to work independently, to design, perform, and interpret experiments, and to embark on new scientific methodologies.
You hold a PhD degree in a relevant field, and you graduated from your PhD programme no more than two years ago.
You also have experience and expertise in the following:
4. Extensive experience with DNA repair-related assays.
5. Strong background in vector design, genetic engineering, and molecular biology techniques.
6. Strong hands-on experience with a wide range of cellular and molecular biology techniques and cellular assays including cell culture, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and CRISPR-mediated genome editing.
Ideally, you also have the following experience:
7. Experience in performing genetic screens
8. Basic programming skills Python, R)
This position is sponsored by the Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship (RPF) Programme.
The RPF Programme has the ambition to build and maintain the Scientific Leadership of the future and to provide leading Roche scientists with the opportunity to collaborate with talented postdoctoral researchers, and leading academic research groups, from around the world. One of the key aims is to advance basic science and technologies that will be published in top-rated, peer-reviewed scientific journals, if necessary preceded by priority patent applications.
The duration of RPF project is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. You will be based at the Roche Innovation Center in Basel, Switzerland.
When does it start?
The start date of this fellowship is based on availability. Please clearly indicate your preferred starting date on your motivation letter. All applications always need to include a CV, motivation letter, and a publication list.
