Scientific Expert for Hemato-Oncology
We are seeking a Medical Advisor to advance patient care by engaging in scientific exchange with external medical experts and industry leaders. The successful candidate will ensure the scientific value of our products is comprehended by unifying, communicating, and training internal employees. They will also review unmet medical needs to support collaboration and differentiate our portfolio.
About the Role
The Medical Advisor will serve as the country scientific expert for the Hemato-Oncology Area, focusing on 2-3 specific indications. They will report to the Oncology Medical Affairs Lead and interact with key internal stakeholders, including the Brand & Customer Manager, Business Unit Lead, Sales Manager, and Customer Representatives. External interactions will be with Scientific Leaders (SLs) and multiple external stakeholders in the field.
Main Responsibilities
The Medical Advisor's main activities include:
General
* Develop and execute a Country Medical Affairs Plan for assigned indications
* Manage budget planning, tracking, and spending for respective areas
Scientific Leadership
* Maintain regular scientific exchange with defined SLs and disseminate information about the latest developments in assigned indications
* Establish and maintain a strong scientific network
* Collaborate with SLs and other stakeholders to facilitate adoption of best medical practices for physicians, healthcare institutions, and patients
* Organize and lead local advisory boards and expert input forums
* Hold balanced and scientific presentations about disease areas, therapies, and latest developments in context with assigned products/indications and competitors
* Support marketing and sales efforts for assigned products/indications
* Collect customer needs from SLs and provide insights to cross-functional teams
* Setup and manage IIS (Investigator-initiated studies) and non-interventional LDG (Local Data Generation) studies
* Participate in national and international scientific meetings to apply newest knowledge and feed-back to relevant stakeholders
* Closely collaborate with RDMA (Regional Director Medical Affairs) within the region on strategic priorities
Internal Support
* Provide scientific input and set strategic direction for Medical Affairs activities related to respective indications, ensuring alignment with global strategy and adherence to all relevant regulations and SOPs
* Contribute scientific expertise to market access-related strategies and activities
* Facilitate inclusion of company products in hospital formularies and local therapeutic guidelines as appropriate
* Lead pre-launch medical activities
* Respond to medical inquiries from local customers related to assigned indications not covered by the Medical Services group
* Perform Medical Legal Review of promotional material for assigned products/indications
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Qualifications
* MD, PharmD, or life science degree with PhD
* Fluency in English and fluency in German or French
* 3-5 years of experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a Medical Affairs function or thorough understanding of this function
* At least 1-2 years of experience in Hemato-Oncology, with an established network of SLs working in the field of Hematology, strong scientific baseline knowledge, understanding of clinical trials methods, implementation, and interpretation of clinical data, sound scientific and clinical judgment, and eagerness to continue learning
* Outstanding communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with ability to function within a team environment
* Strong, confident, and engaging presentation skills
* A proactive 'can-do' attitude and passion for the therapeutic area
* Strategic planning skills, including ability to translate scientific strategy into tactical and implementation plans, with a strong focus on execution excellence and compliance
