Under the Program Manager's supervision, the System Engineer leads and manages end-to-end multidisciplinary programs across the digital printing organization. The role requires a wide perspective, systems and processes understanding, high analytical capabilities, and outstanding communication skills using a System Engineering methodical approach. The System Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end development & validation process during the entire PLC.
Mission & Key Responsibilities
Learn and then understand BOBST’s existing products from different Product Lines.
Investigate existing solutions in the market.
Analyze and define architecture and system requirements to meet modular design approach with a core team member (cross-organization).
Coordinate Product / Modules development in a cross-organization matrix.
Communicate with stakeholders to identify their needs or support (R&D, Marketing, Operations, Procurement, Customer Service…).
Efficient and organized working method, including efficient presentation and documentation management.
Able to engage with upper management regularly with reporting on project status, activities, and achievements.
Create reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions.
Large know-how of quality tools and management (8D, FMEA, EFA…).
Perform System FMEA with R&D and supervise FMEA of sub-systems.
Select the best possible solutions using metrological approaches.
Work with different groups inside and outside the organization to identify problem status. Troubleshoot and resolve all technical issues as they arise.
Implement best practices.
Create suitable test plans to address particular problems in a timely manner in coordination with the Test Manager.
Lead integration and qualification processes.
Skills and Experience
M.Sc. in System Engineering / Software / Electrical or equivalent with demonstrated experience in analyzing complex multidisciplinary systems and problems.
Experience in project management, application design, and integration.
Broad working know-how in Electronics, Software, Mechanics, Fluidic, and Materials.
Analytical skills with a clear rationale behind assessments.
Autonomous; knows how to make things happen, find relevant information, tools, and vendors.
Organized; uses advanced tools for data analyses and management.
Proficient in MS Office (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
High presentation skills.
Willing to learn on a daily basis.
Hands-on approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexible and resilient; knows how to deal with early (and unstable) R&D prototypes.
Knowledge of digital printing technologies is an asset.
Minimum 5 years in an industrial environment and/or machine industry.
Willing to travel up to 15%.
Fluent in English (French and German are assets). All technical reports will be written in English.

The production site of Mex, near Lausanne in Switzerland, is also the headquarters of the Bobst Group.
