Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Materials Scientist with a recent PhD—or a Master's degree with 3+ years of hands-on lab experience—to join our growing R&D team. You will play a key role in developing, characterizing, and optimizing mineral- and polymer-based formulations for cementitious systems and other applications. This is a hands-on lab-based role central to Nanogence’s product development roadmap, offering exposure to technical decision-making and client impact.
Your Responsibilities
1. Design, conduct, and interpret laboratory experiments on admixture materials, mortars, and concrete systems
2. Support IP development
3. Support the formulation of new product variants and performance enhancers
4. Perform materials characterization (e.g., particle size, solid content, FTIR, TGA, XRD, etc)
5. Document results, contribute to internal technical reports, and assist in drafting patent-related materials
6. Collaborate with production, QC, and field teams to translate lab findings into industrial formulations
7. Participate in external partnerships and co-development projects as needed
Required Qualifications and Skills
1. PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering
2. – OR – Master’s degree with 3+ of hands-on lab experience
3. Experience with materials characterization (e.g., FTIR, TGA, particle size)
4. Proven experimental design and data interpretation skills, demonstrated by at least one first-author peer-reviewed publication or one filed patent
5. Experience using Python for data analysis (minimum 2 years)
6. Ability to work independently and communicate findings clearly
7. Fluent in English
Highly Desirable Skills
1. Experience with cementitious materials, admixtures, polymers, or mineral systems preferred
2. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
3. Fluent in French
