ADM’s global Nutrition business is represented by Human Nutrition, Health & Wellness and Animal Nutrition divisions. The Health & Wellness and Animal Nutrition Research teams are present in 4 locations (Spain, North America, France and Switzerland) and focus on developing cutting-edge technological and science-based products.
The successful candidate will report to both the Center’s Director and the Spore-forming Bacteria Manager, and will be based in Lausanne, Switzerland. This individual will play a key role within the team, handling facility management duties such as organizing waste, monitoring equipment, and addressing building issues. Additionally, the candidate will work with spore-forming bacteria for extensive characterization. This includes cultivating and handling candidate spores, as well as conducting intensive screening for potential beneficial effects, involving the use of mammalian cells and simulated microbiome work.
Your Responsibilities:
* Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and calibration.
* Address and resolve building issues, including maintenance requests and coordination with facility services.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the facility.
* Organize and manage waste disposal in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
* Maintain records of facility management activities and provide regular updates to the management team.
* An in-depth understanding of microbiology techniques necessary for bacteria characterization and enumeration.
* Familiarity with mammalian cell culture techniques and maintenance, including equipment cleaning, media preparation, contamination checks, and cryopreservation and cataloguing of cell lines.
* Reporting results, proposing technical solutions, and participation in data analysis.
* Ensure sufficient availability and timely replenishment of laboratory consumables and optimal lab workflow/ organization (equipment maintenance, pipette calibration, etc.).
* Work within SOPs and technical documentation applicable in BLS2 labs and in the company.
Your Profile:
* Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, strain development, bioengineering, or related fields.
* Over 5 years of experience in microbiology and molecular biology, preferably in industrial and BSL2 settings.
* Proven significant experience in facility management, including organizing waste disposal, monitoring and maintaining equipment, and addressing building issues.
* Strong documentation skills and ability to effectively communicate with colleagues.
* Demonstrated scientific rigor.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others both as part of a local team and in a global context.
