At onsemi, we help improve lives through silicon solutions every day. Our intelligent power and sensing technologies solve the world’s most complex challenges and lead the way in creating a safer, cleaner, and smarter world. Our team in Marin/Switzerland develops low-power digital signal processing systems, secure Bluetooth-enabled MCUs, and highly reliable mixed-signal SoCs that sense and connect the world or help manage personal health through body-worn or implantable devices. Our products help people to hear, to communicate with others, and to manage their blood glucose levels. Our world-class ultra-low-power solutions also contribute to a more sustainable future. We invite you to join our innovative team and truly make a difference in people’s lives.
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated intern to join our design team for either a master thesis or a 6-month internship. A combination of both (6-month internship + master thesis) is also encouraged. You will implement analog components for our leading-edge ultra-low-power ICs and participate in the integration into the top-level IC designs.
In Precision Analog Center of Excellence, we are a key part of the new product development flow (NPD) with our customers relying on us to build state-of-the-art converters (DAC, ADC, TDC), PLL/DLL, etc., to ensure that their new products meet the requirements.
Why Join Us
Here at onsemi, we take great pride in our internship program and the efforts we take to provide students with hands-on industry experience. We provide competitive pay, various networking event opportunities, and flexible hours based on the school schedule. We create a diverse set of world-class products in a friendly and team-oriented atmosphere. We provide an environment of continual learning and growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do
1. Participate in feasibility studies and architecture definitions of new products.
2. Develop low-power analog IP blocks (specification, schematic and layout CMOS and SOI design, Spice simulation).
3. Contribute to the block integration in complex mixed-signal System-on-Chip (SoC) designs.
4. Generate detailed specifications and verification plans for analog components and IC designs.
5. Evaluate and characterize IC components in the lab.
6. Support the production test development and the final circuit qualification.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
In order to be considered for an internship, you must be a student currently enrolled in a school pursuing an accredited degree program. This position is specifically looking for someone who is enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in Electrical Engineering or related field with emphasis on chip level circuit design.
7. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with courseworks on analog and/or digital circuit design.
8. Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics.
9. Experience using EDA tools for circuit design, simulation, layout, and verification with Cadence and Mentor tools is valued the most.
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
12. Strong team player and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
13. Experience with CALIBRE PEC, MATLAB, TCL and Python scripting is also valued.
