Job Description
As Sales & Marketing Director at the Crowne Plaza Zurich, you will develop and implement strategies to ensure room night revenue and sales targets are met. Sales and marketing strategies will be set, tactical plans created and implemented, and results monitored and achieved.
Responsibilities
People
* Manage day-to-day sales activities, plan and allocate work to ensure you always have the right number of people.
* Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development targets for colleagues - recognize good performance.
* Train your colleagues to ensure they are meeting the hotel's sales targets to the standards we expect and that they have the tools they need to work effectively.
* Recommend or initiate HR related actions as required.
* Foster a great working environment where teams can thrive - Networking between departments to create a sense of a shared team.
* Interact with external contacts: Guests, suppliers and other contacts as required.
* Build and maintain good working relationships with key customers and external contacts to increase revenue.
Finance
* Achieve all personal/team sales targets and maximize profitability.
* Contribute to the preparation of departmental budgets and financial plans, including the hotel marketing plan.
* Create and implement sales plans that produce measurable increases in occupancy, average rates, volume, food and beverage and banquet sales.
* Prepare monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase sales and market share, and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established sales plan.

* Develop and execute special events and sales promotions to promote the hotel to potential customers.
* Participate in trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities for the hotel.
Guest Love
* Providing guests with information (e.g. loyalty programs, attractions in the area, restaurants, information about the facilities) to enhance the guests' stay.
* Planning conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinating with other departments of the hotel to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
* Communicate all relevant information and special requirements for incoming VIPs, large groups and other important guests to the relevant departments.
* Carry out marketing activities to promote hotel services, offers and amenities to guests.
* During the absence of the General Manager, take over the duty services.
Responsible behavior
* Working closely with key business leaders, officials and representatives of local community groups in the city to ensure a constant public presence for the hotel.
* Effectively communicate and market sustainable or “green” aspects of the hotel and use information to develop new business opportunities.
* Work with advertising agencies, consultancies and vendors to maximize advertising investment and ensure ads represent the brand identity.
* Increase awareness and reputation of your hotel and the brand locally - occasionally acting as the hotel's representative for media enquiries.
* Identify improvements to the hotel's marketing activities and overall sales performance and liaise with other departments.
* Ad hoc tasks - unexpected moments where we need to pull together to accomplish a task.
Requirements
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree/college degree/equivalent degree in marketing or related field.
* Four or more years of experience in sales and marketing in the hospitality or hotel industry with direct supervision of a sales team.
* Very good language skills in German and English, other languages are a plus.
* Leadership experience, negotiation skills and organizational flair.
* Contact and communication skills.
* Well-groomed, friendly and engaging demeanor.
* Strong knowledge of the local economy and business trends required.
