In this role, you will be directly overseeing and be responsible for the technical work of the department, being responsible as well of the operational readiness of equipment, instruments and personnel necessary to meet the daily delivery of testing services, meeting client expectations in delivery of testing services. You will be responsible for up to 15 direct reports (medical technologists and laboratory assistants).
In more details, you will? Managerial and Leadership duties and responsibilities:
Supervision of day to day production and non-production activities.
Direct monitoring of the quality of the testing services provided by employees under his/her supervision.
Assigning trained personnel and ensuring sufficient number of staff are available to complete the routine workload.
Supervision:
Scheduling department personnel appropriately to match the demands of the daily workflow as well as non-production activities, such as validations.
Provide direct supervision to employees, including assignments, technical and behavioral performance counseling and troubleshooting when possible.
Provide support as required to the department manager and supervisor colleagues to assist in the fulfillment of his responsibilities, including acting as manager upon delegation during absences.
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:
Assure quality and timely performance of both production and non-production activities under supervision.
Report performance and results against targets and global standards.
Ensure regulatory compliance within his/her supervision.
Communicate all production and non-production standards, guidelines and information to the supervised staff.
Ensure on-time delivery of performance reports (proficiency testing, quality controls, etc.) and responses to inquiries from other functional areas.
Participate in and support client visits, audits and inquiries, as necessary, to ensure complete fulfillment of requests and interests.
Personnel:
Recruit, train and contribute to retention efforts of employees.
Conduct development of staff as needed.
Support the departmental manager and work closely with other supervisor colleagues in assessing and meeting the resource needs.
Support the development of plans to meet future resource needs.
Evaluate the performance of employees.
Work with department manager and other supervisor colleagues to establish training plans for the supervised staff.
Support the manager and work with the other supervisory team in employee evaluations and development plans.
Essential External Client-related Job Duties:
Support marketing and sales as needed in their efforts to meet specific client requests for testing services.
Note: Saturday work may be required 1-2 times per month (rotating schedule).

What we’re looking for Laboratory Supervisors are the most successful at Labcorp with:
Degree in Biology, Chemistry or other Life Science plus 1 year clinical testing experience; or Medical Technology degree.
Minimum of 2 years of people management experience.
Previous experience in a laboratory following clinical training in Flow Cytometry is a plus.
Fluency in French and intermediate level in English are required.
Professional certification (ASCP, AABB, or other) in area(s) of expertise preferred.
Qualification by the Foederation Analyticorum Medicilanium Helveticorum (FAMH) or by the Foederation Medicorum Helveticorum (FMH) is a plus.
Computer literate.
