Systems and Network Engineer
Role
The Systems and Network Engineer designs, implements, and maintains technical assets that enable the organization’s hybrid IT ecosystem and provide secure, reliable, and robust services to our staff, members, and end users.
We are seeking someone to join our S3 team (Security, Systems, and Service Desk) to manage and operate our IT systems and network infrastructure. Your duties involve designing, configuring, and monitoring networks and related assets and services, managing virtualization platforms/containers orchestrators and operating systems, and ensuring robust security protocols are in place. By joining a small, highly skilled and committed team, you will have the opportunity to push boundaries and innovate to help the organization reach new heights.
Key responsibilities
* Design, implement, and manage the organization's network infrastructure.
* Monitor network and systems performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
* Ensure the integrity and availability of critical IT systems and infrastructure.
* Implement and maintain security measures to protect data and infrastructure.
* Maintain documentation for network configurations, procedures, and policies.
* Collaborate with other IT staff to develop and implement new technologies.
* Provide technical support and guidance to staff.
* Plan and execute system upgrades and maintenance activities.
Report to: Head of Security, Systems and Service Desk
Qualification and Experience
* University or post-graduate degree in computer science, systems engineering or other highly technical, scientific discipline.
* At least 5 years of professional experience as systems and/or network engineer or in a similar role.
* Fluency in English (oral & written communication) is required. French is a strong plus.
Skills
Technical skills
* Virtualization/Containerization: Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
* Operating Systems: Proficiency in various operating systems, especially Linux and Windows Server.
* Network Configuration and Management/Monitoring: Experience with designing networks, configuring and managing devices such as switches and firewalls. Proficiency in using network monitoring and management tools.
* Network Security: Knowledge of security protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems to protect network integrity.
* Scripting and Automation: Skills in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, Bash or Ansible.
* Backup and Recovery: Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
* Cloud Services: Experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
* Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve network and systems-related issues efficiently.
