Job Description
You will join the IT Department's Systems & Storage team, whose role is to provide reliable compute and storage solutions for the bank. This includes on-prem and public cloud infrastructure, as well as optimized bare-metal and virtualized stacks.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in *nix systems, optimization skillsets, and the ability to integrate open-source solutions within a corporate environment. Your expertise will help guide your team to improve their stack and work towards providing Infrastructure as a Service.
With your team, you will work closely with IT architects and Performance Analysts to plan and execute the department's long-term technical objective of providing hyperscalers-like cloud capabilities on-premises.
Responsibilities
* Design and implement scalable and secure Linux-based systems and infrastructure.
* Perform regular system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
* Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to prevent downtime.
* Collaborate with engineers to ensure systems are designed to meet business needs.
* Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture and processes.
* Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability, and meet our RTO/RPO objectives.
* Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for Linux-related issues.
* Automate system administration tasks using frameworks such as Ansible or Terraform.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering role.
* Proven experience in managing complex IT environments and contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Extensive experience in alternate industries such as telco, manufacturing, aviation, or pharmaceuticals.
* Strong understanding of server infrastructure, cloud computing, SAN, NAS, and DAS, storage and distributed storage architecture.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working with multi-functional technical and business teams, along with different levels of management to influence decision making.
* Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (puppet, ansible, terraform, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with LXC, KVM, VMWare, proxmox, containerd, podman.
* Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Rust, .Net, C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Go.
* Familiarity with Kubernetes Infrastructure management (Juju/MaaS/CDK, openshift, foreman).
* Linux certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification), or equivalent.
* Strong knowledge of network architecture and cybersecurity. Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and other network protocols.
* Experience with ITIL processes and frameworks.
