CERN's Department (SY) is responsible for the beam-related technical systems of the CERN accelerators. The SY teams design, build, and operate equipment systems in all CERN accelerators, engaging in forward-looking R&D programmes. You will work in the electronics section.
Responsibilities:
* Participate in the test and measurement of tunnel and surface-based modules in various CERN accelerators including the LHC;
* Design test benches comprising laboratory instrumentation and custom electronics;
* Design and layout printed circuit boards;
* Utilize advanced instruments such as high-end oscilloscopes, VNAs, and logic analysers;
* Develop Python scripts for the control of laboratory instruments and test benches.
Requirements:
* Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of electronics or a related field;
* Hands-on experience in soldering of SMD components;
* Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies;
* Fault identification in electronic circuits.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Knowledge of CAD software such as Altium or KiCad;
* Knowledge of Python programming language;
* Testing and measurement of analog and digital electronic circuits;
* Design and simulation of analog and digital electronic circuits;
* Layout of electronic circuit boards;
* Design and development of systems based on standardized modules;
* Application of instrumentation and measurement techniques.
