Vice President, R&D Data Science & Digital Health - AI Transformation

About This Opportunity
This role will report to the Chief R&D Data Science Officer to design and implement the Artificial Intelligence Transformation Agenda. The ideal candidate will shape AI implementation strategy, building enterprise-wide AI capabilities to accelerate wide adoption, ensuring responsible AI implementation, and driving large-scale AI adoption across the organization.
* Design and implement AI transformation strategy through the development and deployment of cross-functional collaboration models, ensuring AI expertise is embedded across Research and Development and broader collaborator's teams.
* Ensure organizational AI adoption, aligning with leadership priorities and strategic objectives.
* Identify high-impact AI use cases and practical applications that enhance productivity, efficiency, and innovation.
Responsibilities
1. Lead a high-performing team of AI and transformation managers, change management, and AI Governance fostering a culture of innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and execution.
2. Collaborate with R&D divisions, HR, Learning & Development (L&D), and IT and Innovative Medicine stakeholders to enhance data and AI literacy programs and ensure AI implementation aligns with J&J's global AI vision.
3. Establish an AI Center of Excellence and chair an AI transformation steering committee, ensuring best practices, governance, and execution frameworks are in place.
4. Lead AI capability-building across J&J R&D, equipping teams with AI skills to drive innovation in drug discovery and clinical research.
5. Partner with Learning & Development (L&D) to scale AI literacy programs across teams and leadership levels.
6. Drive stakeholder engagement to foster an AI-first culture and ensure AI solutions are effectively adopted.
7. Work closely with HR, L&D, IT, R&D, clinical, regulatory, and commercial teams to integrate AI seamlessly into business operations.
Requirements
* A minimum education level of a master's degree or MBA is required.
* A minimum of 15 years' experience is required in business transformation, digital innovation, and large-scale capability building in pharma, healthcare, or technology sectors.
* Experience in healthcare and pharmaceutical industry is required and additional consumer, marketing and/or tech market experience is preferred.
* Experience leading AI specific transformations is strongly preferred.
* Critical experience in developing, communicating, implementing and executing enterprise strategies with large change management efforts requirements.
* Deep expertise in enterprise AI and Generative AI applications.
* Highly connected with latest trends and releases of AI tools within and across industries and deep familiarity with AI technology and methods (Gen AI, and more traditional machine learning, quantitative methods, and digital health technologies).
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with C-suite executives, business leaders, and cross-functional teams.
* Clear understanding of AI governance and responsible AI frameworks.
