Junior Full Stack Engineer at DeepTech Startup
Location: Zurich, Switzerland (Hybrid setup – 3 days in the office, 2 days remote)
About Us:
We’re NetFabric, a rapidly growing technology startup (ETH Zurich Spin-off) specializing in computer network observability. We're a passionate team of award-winning researchers and experienced entrepreneurs, driven by a love of innovation and a frustration with old-school network monitoring tools. With our strong background in computer networking and AI from years of research at ETH Zurich, we are ready to push the limits and shape the future of networking monitoring!
We’re working on something exciting and would love for you to be part of it!
Role Overview:
As our Junior Full Stack Engineer, you’re someone with strong potential and a track record of standing out in your first years of experiences—whether through your first jobs, side projects, or academic work. You’ll contribute across both frontend and backend development, collaborating closely with our Lead Engineer and the rest of the team to shape and grow our platform. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of delivering high-quality features from day one, and your early contributions will have a real impact on building and scaling our product.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves building products that customers love, and has a passion for hands-on development across the entire stack.
What You’ll Do:
* Take Ownership of the full stack: You will be responsible for developing both the frontend and backend, using technologies like TypeScript, React, TailwindCSS, and FastAPI (Python). This will involve building new features, integrating REST APIs, working with databases like ClickHouse or MongoDB, optimizing performance, and implementing dynamic visualizations and interactive tables to improve the user experience. You'll have the chance to take ownership of your work and contribute directly to the product's success.
* Build & innovate hands-on: Actively contribute to both frontend and backend code. Solve architectural challenges, manage technical debt, and collaborate with the team to create a seamless, efficient user experience.
* Collaborate with the team: Work closely with our engineering team to ensure your development work aligns with our technical goals and the overall vision for the product.
* Contribute to product development: Work directly on building features that our customers will use, from inception to deployment. Help shape the direction of the product from a technical perspective.
* Drive technical decisions: Help evaluate and adopt new tools, libraries, and technologies to optimize the performance and scalability of our platform.
What We’re Looking For:
* You have strong potential and a proven track record of excellence —either through attending a top university in a relevant field and/or by showing success through personal or side projects that demonstrate your engineering talent. We’re not looking for years of experience; we’re looking for skill, curiosity, and drive.
* First experience or hands-on exposure to full-stack engineering: Ideally 1–3 years of experience in frontend and/or backend development.
* Hands-on talent: Strong skills in writing code and tackling complex engineering challenges. We’re excited about people who enjoy building things and want to grow their skills further.
* Collaborative spirit: A collaborative and adaptable mindset, ready to work closely with our CTO Tobias, CEO Beni, and especially with our Lead Engineer Regis, and other team members in a fast-paced startup culture.
* Eagerness to learn and grow: You’re motivated to learn from others, ask questions, and contribute to the team while developing your skills. At the same time, you're excited to share your full-stack knowledge to help others grow too.
Bonus Points:
* Familiarity with our tech stack: (TypeScript, React, TailwindCSS, FastAPI Python) or similar technologies is key. Experience designing and integrating REST APIs.
* Experience in DevOps practices: (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, containerization with Docker, Kubernetes) and/or cloud environments.
* Experience with performance optimization: Building high-performance systems that scale under high traffic and large data volumes.
* Experience in gathering and leveraging customer feedback: to drive engineering priorities and feature development.
Why NetFabric?:
* Immediate impact & ownership: Dive into a small but fast-growing team where your contributions will make a tangible difference from day one. Lead the full-stack development of our product from pre-seed to market launch, with support of our Lead Engineer and escalating responsibilities and opportunities for growth.
* Growth & collaboration: Lead and innovate alongside thought leaders and award-winning researchers from ETH Zurich, tackling the most exciting challenges in high-performance data processing, network modeling, AI and, LLMs. Immerse yourself in an environment that champions continuous learning and cutting-edge solutions.
* Equity & competitive salary: Receive a comprehensive compensation package with stock options, offering you a stake in NetFabric’s success, and additional benefits to ensure your well-being.
* Flexible working: Split your week between our Zurich office (Tue, Thu, Fri) and home office (Mon, Wed), and set your own working hours around our core periods. We value your unique rhythm and believe that flexibility is key to top performance, so tailor your schedule to fit your needs and optimize your productivity.
