Communications Specialist - 2025/2026
JOB SUMMARY: The Communications Specialist plays a vital role in developing and implementing the district's comprehensive communications strategy. This position assists the Communications Director in fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting the district's mission and vision, and ensuring effective communication across all platforms. This role requires a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
JOB GOAL: Effectively assist with all communication operations in the district.
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Graphic Design for all district materials
* Assist in updating the district website.
* Track Social Media Posts for visitors and analytics.
* Track completed social media posts and posts that need to be made.
* Proofread and maintain district newsletter and other written materials.
* Assist in planning and promoting media coverage.
* Take photos and videos for social media and other uses.
* Distribute printed communication materials throughout the district.
* Represent the Communications Department while interacting with media, in the community in person, electronically, and on the phone.
* Assist with office communications, including correspondence, miscellaneous phone calls, appointments, and drop-in visitors.
* Produces videos, as requested, (e.g. story bridging, scripting, filming, editing, etc.) for the purpose of creatively promoting and communicating district goals and objectives.
* Communicates with various stakeholders (e.g. district and school personnel, board members, students, public, media, etc.) for the purpose of informing and/or presenting information through various mediums (e.g. manual and electronic presentations, printed publications, e-mails, web pages, video, blogs, TV spots, etc.) in compliance with district vision, goals, and objectives.
* Perform other tasks as delegated.
* Completes tasks given by the Superintendent, Director of Communications or designee.
* Assist Superintendent and Director of Communications as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* BBA/BSc/BA in public relations, communications or relevant field and experience.
* Experience with brand management.
* Knowledge of word processing, database, spreadsheet and other office applications.
* Proficiency with social media.
* Experience in photography, videography and editing of print and video, preferred.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
* Experience in web design and content production is a plus.
* Experience in copywriting and editing.
* Experience in graphic design and editing.
* Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of K-12 education is a plus.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
* 238 day contract.
* Exempt Status
* 2.004 ratio
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
