Job Title:
(Senior) Director Global Portfolio and Project Management Excellence
About the Role:
This role is responsible for leading the strategic alignment and management of TECAN's R&D project portfolio to ensure it aligns with the company's overarching goals. This involves providing and developing robust Project Management Standards that guide the organization in achieving consistency and excellence in project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Project Portfolio Management to facilitate strategic and operational decisions related to business, financial, or project changes, and oversee the annual budget process and reporting for senior management.
2. Manage the R&D Project Portfolio to align with LSB/PB, application segments, and corporate R&D needs, ensuring support for TECAN's market strategies and adherence to financial targets, budgets, timelines, and resource objectives.
3. Foster effective interdisciplinary and interdepartmental communication across TECAN's global and local project organizations.
4. Generate and report critical financial business analytics, providing insights and updates to senior management, including the Management Board.
Product Development Processes:
5. Develop and maintain TECAN's Project Management Standards in collaboration with different stakeholders, ensuring all project phases adhere to these standards.
6. Support the global R&D organization by managing project processes and tools, and implementing updates to R&D procedures and templates on a global scale.
7. Ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in documentation management across sites, including reviewing and maintaining DHFs and master records for milestone readiness.
8. Coordinate between project and product portfolio management to align with product development requirements and organizational structures.
9. Develop and continuously improve the Project Management Excellence framework, including the Project Management Handbook and Project Management Training.
10. Develop project management processes that support product development and efficient life cycle management of launched products.
11. Lead and facilitate continuous improvement of processes and technologies, team, and teamwork.
12. Introduce agile project management, visual project management, and other effective project management methods.
Requirements:
13. Technical university degree, preferably in natural sciences, computer science, mechanical or electrical engineering.
14. Education in industrial management/business administration or proven experience for at least 5 years.
15. Project management education, PMP or similar certifications, and training in change management and leadership.
16. At least 5 years of experience in innovation management, laboratory and process automation, preferably in the life sciences or medical device industry.
17. Fluent in English; additional languages (German and others) are a plus.
18. Focus on targets and results, showing a high level of endurance, tolerance, and resilience.
19. Technical interest and understanding of the work, the people, and the company's corporate values.
20. Practical approach that works for everyone under the given circumstances; open listener and able to effect compromises.
