The group of Judith Zaugg at the DBM is currently seeking a highly motivated Scientific Collaborator to drive innovation in spatial omics technologies and advanced imaging approaches for research in the Zaugg group. This position will focus on optimizing spatial multi omics protocols, developing imaging pipelines, and leading technology implementation in collaborative projects. The position is limited to 2 years with possibility of extension (start is October 2025 at the latest). Your position Develop and optimize spatial omics technologies (e.g., in situ sequencing, multiplex immunostaining, and spatial transcriptomics). Lead interdisciplinary collaborations, providing expertise in antibody bioconjugation, tissue handling (FFPE and fresh frozen), and histology. Supervise and train students, postdocs, and technical staff in advanced microscopy, spatial omics protocols, and data analysis. Actively manage and execute multiple research projects, including design, cost optimization, and troubleshooting. Coordinate with external collaborators and funding agencies for technology development and project dissemination. Contribute to teaching and outreach, including participation in international courses and workshops. Your profile Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with substantial experience as a scientist. Strong expertise in spatial omics technologies, multiplex immunostaining, in situe sequencing approaches, and advanced imaging techniques, as well as custom imaging setups. Proven track record in antibody labeling and bioconjugation techniques, as well as the development of custom antibody panels and in situ sequencing technology gene panel. Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) methods (e.g., RNA Seq, ATAC Seq, and custom library preparation). Tracked human tissue material handling and preparation. Proficiency supervising interdisciplinary teams, multiple user projects managment and developing training programs for scientific methods. Demonstrated success in managing research projects and establishing collaborations. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with experience in writing scientific reports and manuscripts.
