Position Overview:
Ralph Lauren is seeking to appoint an in-house legal counsel (6 months contract) to support its business throughout the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions, with a particular focus on marketing, e-commerce, IT, and privacy/data protection. Reporting to the Head of Data Privacy, Commercial & Technology within the EMEA Legal Department, the role will be based in Geneva.
Responsibilities:
* Provide legal advice and support to Ralph Lauren’s business throughout the EMEA region, focusing on marketing (including digital and social media), e-commerce, IT, and privacy/data protection matters.
* Draft, review, and negotiate marketing, services, and IT agreements, and any other commercial contracts as required by the business teams and various internal departments.
* Advise the Marketing & Media, E-commerce, Information Technology, and Procurement teams on a day-to-day basis.
* Act as subject matter expert in data protection and advise on all aspects of EU privacy laws under the supervision of a senior lawyer.
* Manage and liaise with external counsels.
* Undertake any ad hoc legal projects and assignments as required.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
* Recognized law degree and admitted to practice in the UK or any EU Member State.
* 4+ years’ legal experience (prior private practice experience would be helpful).
* Strong general commercial legal skills (contract drafting, negotiation, and interpretation).
* Legal experience in privacy/data protection (including familiarity with the GDPR) and/or digital and social media marketing would be particularly advantageous.
* Excellent command of written and spoken English; fluency in an additional language (particularly French, German, Italian, or Spanish) would be helpful.
* Willingness to learn other practice areas and become familiar with the laws of other jurisdictions.
* Ability to work independently.
* Good analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
