Your Role:
The Drug Substance Development (DSD) Process Design department develops and characterizes the drug substance bioprocesses of Merck's biotech pipeline.
We collaborate with all CMC functions in the Biotech Development Center (BDC) in Switzerland to bring new drugs faster to patients. Our team relies on cutting-edge development capabilities, leveraging end-to-end robotics platforms for process execution.
These platforms feature integrated "on-deck" analytics for measuring process performance and quality attributes.
Duties:
1. Contribute to establishing high-throughput and robotized analytics capabilities within our robotic platforms for drug substance process development.
2. Develop data analysis procedures to maximize automated reporting of analytical results and reduce variability in data interpretation.
3. Establish a robotic analytical workflow for seamless process design work in the digital environment.
4. Ensure timely results to support CMC process development activities on robotics platforms.
5. Oversee and provide guidance to the operational team on result interpretation and guide process experts in using analytical results for process design decisions.
Requirements:
* PhD in Chemistry, Biology, or Biotechnology (or equivalent) or M.Sc/Engineering degree with relevant industry and analytical experience.
* Highly motivated scientist with the ability to work with limited supervision in a matrix project environment.
* Proven track record in analytics for bio- and/or small molecules.
* Advanced capabilities in Mass Spectrometry.
* Knowledge of robotics systems.
* Coding skills are a plus.
* Leadership experience with a small, non-complex team or significant projects.
* Proficient in English and able to interact with international colleagues.
