ArrowResources Group seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented middle office professional to support the energy trading teams (power, oil, natural gas, LNG). Therefore, this role has a range of responsibilities covering both middle-office and accounting functions, and it requires flexibility to adapt to changing business conditions. It supports the team's trading and risk management functions, including trade capture, profit-and-loss reconciliation, reporting, and ledger accounting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the power and natural gas trading industry.
Middle Office Function:
* Trading Support: Provide operational and administrative support to the power and gas trading team. Assist in trade execution, deal verification, and settlement processes. Monitor and manage trade-related documentation, including contracts, confirmations, and invoices.
* Risk Management: Collaborate with risk management teams to ensure compliance with trading limits, risk controls, and regulatory requirements. Monitor and report on trading positions, exposures, and risk metrics. Identify and escalate potential risk issues to management.
* Data Analysis: Analyze power and gas market data, including prices, demand forecasts, and supply patterns. Utilize analytical tools and models to support decision-making processes and optimize trading strategies. Generate reports and presentations on market trends and trading performance.
* Operations Coordination: Coordinate with internal departments, such as scheduling, settlements, finance, and compliance, to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Collaborate with external stakeholders, including power exchanges, grid operators, and counterparties, to facilitate trade settlements and resolve operational issues.
* Trade Settlements: Oversee trade settlements and invoicing processes. Verify accuracy and completeness of trade-related documents and financial transactions. Collaborate with finance teams to reconcile trade positions, payments, and financial statements.
* Compliance and Regulatory: Stay updated with relevant energy market regulations, policies, and compliance requirements. Ensure trading activities adhere to internal policies and external regulatory frameworks. Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities.
* Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with counterparties, brokers, and industry professionals. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve inquiries, address operational issues, and negotiate contracts.
* Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains within trading and operational workflows. Propose and implement enhancements to streamline processes, automate tasks, and enhance overall operational effectiveness.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, STEM subject, or related field;
* 2+ years of experience in a trading environment, preferably in one or more of power, natural gas, LNG, or oil, in a middle office, risk control position;
* Understanding of financial instruments and derivatives
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
* Entrepreneurial spirit;
* Excellent attention to detail;
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Power Query, and other data analysis tools (Python and SQL would be a plus)
* First-hand experience in Risk Management (P&L calculation and explain, risk dimensions, operational)
Good to have:
* Business Intelligence or other systematic reporting experience
* Experience with clearing/brokering counterparties
* Database experience
