Job Description
Your responsibilities include enhancing and maintaining the DCA web tool, which interacts with an Oracle database for the CMS Phase-2 Tracker Upgrade. This tool tracks the construction of the new Tracker Detector, and you will play a key role in ensuring its functionality, performance, and usability.
* Design, develop, and optimize web-based tools for CMS Phase-2 construction tracking, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.
* Write and refine SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and management in the Oracle database.
* Improve UI/UX for an intuitive and user-friendly experience tailored to the Tracker community.
* Work with stakeholders to align the tool with project needs while ensuring compliance with CERN security policies.
* Identify and resolve technical issues while maintaining clear, up-to-date documentation on workflows and best practices.
Your Profile
You will need the following skills:
* Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and experience with RESTful APIs.
* Strong skills in Python and Java.
* Expertise in Oracle Database and SQL, including complex query optimization.
* Experience with Git and version control.
* Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and effective communication in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
* Familiarity with CMS Phase-2 Tracker or similar tracking systems.
* Experience optimizing large datasets.
* Knowledge of web security best practices.
* Spoken and written English, with commitment to learn French.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
* You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
* By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Bachelor of Technology (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
* You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
* Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
* Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
