Job Description:
We invite applications for a unique opportunity to contribute to Switzerland’s first nationwide web platform for processing and analyzing mass spectrometry data on organic pollutants from water samples.
NTSuisse is a groundbreaking collaboration between Swiss cantonal environmental, water protection, and drinking water laboratories, cantonal water suppliers, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag), and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). Together, we are developing a platform for the automation of the analysis of LC-HRMS data, enabling semi-quantitative screening of approximately 600 substances. The project aims to revolutionize water quality monitoring and deepen our understanding of chemical pollution in Swiss waters. Our containerized platform is built around LABKEY Server and a PostgreSQL database, with additional workflows implemented in Python, R, and Airflow, and a customized user interface designed in JavaScript using ExtJS.
We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for web development and a curiosity for scientific data analysis. Successful candidates will join a small, dynamic team of professionals, including a project manager, lead engineer, and backend developer.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Enhance and develop features for an existing web interface using JavaScript, ExtJS, SQL, and Labkey Server.
2. Review use case specifications and draft implementation concepts.
3. Test and document your code to ensure reliability and usability.
Required Skills:
1. Experience with web/frontend development, ideally JavaScript or JavaScript-based frameworks.
2. Familiarity with version control systems and collaboration tools such as GitLab.
Optional Skills:
1. Knowledge of ExtJS, SQL, Labkey Server, Docker.
2. Experience working with mass spectrometry data.
What We Offer:
1. A supportive, collaborative team environment.
2. An opportunity to work on an exciting project with real-world impact on water quality monitoring.
3. Flexibility in working hours and a chance to gain valuable experience in both software engineering and environmental science.
Candidates should be fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of German would be an asset.
This position is limited until 31 December 2025. #J-18808-Ljbffr
