Job Description
At Destinus, we are building the near-space vehicle and associated infrastructure to revolutionize logistics, e-commerce, and supply chain companies. Our hydrogen-powered vehicles are ten times faster than conventional aircraft, providing a just-in-time backbone for businesses that require instant delivery.
We are seeking a skilled UAV Systems Engineer to contribute to designing, developing, and optimizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and their associated systems. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will work closely with engineers, technicians, and project managers to achieve project goals.
Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Design and Development:
o Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize and design UAV systems, including airframes, propulsion systems, avionics, and payloads.
o Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed designs and specifications.
o Conduct structural analysis, aerodynamic modelling, and system integration to optimize UAV performance.
* Hardware (HW) and Systems Architecture:
o Define the HW architecture of UAV systems, including airframes, propulsion systems, avionics, sensors, and communication systems.
o Develop system-level architecture to ensure seamless integration and interoperability of components.
o Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to establish design requirements and specifications.
* System and Wiring Diagrams:
o Create detailed system diagrams depicting the overall UAV architecture, subsystems, and interconnections.
o Develop wiring diagrams illustrating the electrical connections, power distribution, and signal routing within the UAV system.
o Ensure clarity and accuracy in diagrams to facilitate assembly, integration, and troubleshooting processes.
* Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for UAV design, operation, and safety.
o Stay updated on evolving regulations and incorporate regulatory considerations into UAV designs and operations.
* Integration and Assembly Support:
o Provide guidance and support to the assembly team during the integration of UAV components and subsystems.
o Verify compliance with design specifications and standards during the assembly process.
o Resolve technical issues related to component compatibility, wiring discrepancies, and system integration.
* Work Instruction Preparation:
o Prepare detailed work instructions for assembly, integration, and testing procedures based on design specifications and test plans.
o Document step-by-step procedures, tooling requirements, safety precautions, and quality checkpoints.
o Ensure work instructions are clear, concise, and easily understandable by assembly technicians.
* Testing and Validation:
o Develop test plans and procedures to validate UAV systems' performance, functionality, and safety.
o Conduct system-level testing, including functional testing, integration testing, and environmental testing.
o Analyse test results and provide recommendations for design improvements and optimizations.
* Flight Approval Documentation and Obtention:
o Prepare comprehensive flight approval documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
o Liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to obtain necessary flight clearances and permissions.
o Ensure adherence to airspace regulations and operational restrictions during flight planning and execution.
* Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain detailed documentation of UAV designs, specifications, HW architecture, system diagrams, wiring diagrams, test plans, and results.
o Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation to communicate design concepts, progress, and findings to stakeholders.
o Collaborate with technical writers to create user manuals and technical guides for UAV systems.
* Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to achieve project goals.
o Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to convey technical concepts, project status, and requirements.
