Offer Description The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science, and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates, or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2300 people.
The Center for Radiopharmaceutical Sciences (CRS) at Paul Scherrer Institute offers the entire spectrum of radiopharmaceutical sciences which includes radionuclide development (in close cooperation with PSI’s Laboratory of Radiochemistry), radiolabeling chemistry, lead-optimization, in vitro and in vivo assessment, preclinical nuclear imaging (PET and SPECT), and radionuclide therapy as well as translation of new and novel radiotracers for clinical studies (in collaboration with academic and industrial partners).
The Radionuclide Development Group as part of the CRS specializes in basic radiochemical research to produce unique radionuclides for radiopharmaceutical labelling purposes. This includes the design and development of new target systems and state-of-the-art isolation strategies to produce radionuclides with high specific activity and purity such that radiopharmaceuticals like folates, peptides, and antibodies can be labelled in the attempt to use them as diagnostic or therapeutic medicines. The group provides radionuclides to the center towards preclinical and clinical research.
Postdoctoral Fellow in Radiochemistry Your tasks Your area of responsibility includes the development of target systems towards radionuclide production, as well as the design and implementation of (semi-)automated radionuclide chemical separation processes and devices. You will also develop procedures for the translation of radionuclides/radiopharmaceuticals on an automated module.
Your profile You have a PhD degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, as well as a background in (radio)chemical separations or chromatographic methods. Experience in working in a radiation protection environment is a must. You have the ability to work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary group. You have a strong command of the English language, while knowledge of German is an advantage.
Additional Information We offer: Our institution is based on interdisciplinary, innovative, and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture. If you wish to optimally combine work and family life or other personal interests, we are able to support you with our modern employment conditions and the on-site infrastructure.
Your employment contract is limited to 2 years.
