Together, we can beat cancer.
At Varian, a Siemens Healthineers Company, we bring together the world's best talent to realize our vision of a world without fear of cancer. Together, we work passionately to develop and deliver easy-to-use, efficient oncology solutions.
We are part of an incredible community of scientists, clinicians, developers, researchers, professionals, and skilled specialists pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, to improve people’s lives around the world. We embrace a culture of inclusivity in which the power and potential of every individual can be unleashed. We spark ideas that lead to positive impact and continued success.
If you want to be part of this important mission, we want to hear from you.
At our R&D site in Dättwil, Switzerland, with 400 employees, mostly engineers, scientists, and physicists, we specialize in the development of imaging software and hardware as well as treatment management systems for radiation therapy cancer treatment. Join Varian’s Oncology Systems team, and the work you do can make a difference by helping to create a world without fear of cancer.
In our Image Reconstruction team, we develop state-of-the-art algorithms and software for cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) image processing and reconstruction. Varian’s treatment delivery systems use our software to reconstruct 3D and 4D images of the patient’s anatomy. The images are nominally used for patient positioning on the treatment machine, with recent advances in image quality opening up their potential to be used also for replanning and adaptive radio-therapy. Our work focuses on further optimizing 3D and 4D image quality and developing innovative and product-oriented algorithms in Varian’s clinical solutions.
In a team of six highly competent scientists and software engineers, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of algorithms in the CBCT image reconstruction domain. Particular focus will be on enhancing performance of the algorithms both in terms of execution speed and image quality.
Job Responsibilities:
Use parallel programming (GPU) to enhance performance of existing reconstruction algorithms
Implement new methods, conduct feasibility studies and integrate selected algorithms in Varian’s product line
Conduct code and design reviews in cross-functional teams
Perform imaging experiments in the lab for testing, proof-of-concept and troubleshooting investigations
Document design and test specifications of CBCT reconstruction algorithms
Assist product support engineering (PSE) in troubleshooting
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of research in the CT/CBCT reconstruction domain
Job Qualifications:
M.Sc. or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
Familiarity with high-performance computing
Expertise in compiled programming languages (C++, C# and CUDA; other languages are a plus)
Proficiency with modern version control systems (e.g., Git)
Analytical and highly structured mind
Strong sense of teamwork and source code ownership
Fluency in spoken and written English, German is a plus.
You are focused, systematic and work independently. You like to design scientific experiments and be hands-on in a laboratory. You are thorough and organize your data in a highly structured manner. You enjoy solving complex problems, where you can bring in your experience and expand your knowledge every day. You are open to discuss ideas and elaborate solutions with a team of scientists and software engineers. You have strong problem-solving skills and can find creative solutions to system issues and user problems.
