The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) is opening a position for a Scientific Collaborator at the Centre of Competence on Ageing (CCA), within the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS), based in Manno. Work percentage: 80-100%. Start date: 1st May 2025 or a date to be agreed.
Scope
The Centre of Competence on Ageing (CCA) conducts research aimed at increasing knowledge about the elderly population and individual ageing processes. Its mission is to promote the well-being and quality of life of older adults and to support professionals working in the field. Over the years, the CCA has developed strong synergies with local partners and established fruitful collaborations with national and international universities. The team is interdisciplinary and multiprofessional, consisting of around twenty members.
Responsibilities and Activities
The selected candidate will contribute to the development and management of the centre's research projects, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. In particular:
* Participate in the research projects of the CCA, including literature reviews, development of procedures and materials, primary data collection, data analysis, and the dissemination of results.
* Contribute to project management and collaborate with colleagues from partner academic institutions and local organisations.
* Contribute to the production of scientific output related to the projects, such as scientific publications, presentations at national and international conferences.
* Develop competencies and skills in the field of ageing research.
* Actively engage in the activities of the CCA and foster a positive and collaborative environment within the centre.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong interest in ageing research and possesses a broad set of skills ranging from data analysis to project management. Specifically, the following qualifications are required:
* A Master’s degree in the social sciences or a related discipline.
* A strong interest in the topics of ageing and care.
* Skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, including data collection and analysis.
* Ability to manage a digital platform for research.
* Knowledge of the social care and healthcare landscape in Ticino.
* Fluency in Italian and English; knowledge of French or German is an advantage.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with a proactive mindset and flexibility
