Content Editor – CABI BioProtection Portal 23.01.2025
As part of the continuing global effort to reduce the use of highly hazardous plant protection products (PPP) in agricultural production, CABI has developed the CABI BioProtection Portal (BPP) – the world’s largest open access resource for biological pest management. Launched in 2020, this powerful tool offers a free, searchable directory of nationally registered biocontrol and biopesticide products alongside comprehensive information to empower agricultural advisors and growers worldwide to find and effectively use sustainable natural products for integrated pest management. Now covering over 48 countries and still expanding, CABI ensures that the data on the BPP is current and reliable. With growing coverage comes the exciting challenge to manage an increasing volume of data and we’re looking for passionate individuals to help us achieve this.
We are therefore offering the opportunity for someone who shares our commitment to supporting global sustainability by increasing awareness and adoption of biocontrol in agriculture to join our Data Management team. The BPP’s Data Management team provides the subject-matter and editorial expertise for the collation and management of the data underlying the CABI BioProtection Portal.
As part of the Data Management team, and under the direction of the Data Manager and the Portal Project Manager, the Content Editor will be responsible for:
Obtaining permissions from national regulators to use their data.
Collecting data for new countries and ensuring it aligns with the BPP systems.
Contributing to regular maintenance of product data for existing countries.
The candidate would ideally have existing knowledge about biocontrol products and regulatory requirements; however, equally important is that they have a passion for biological crop protection and an eagerness to learn. Previous professional work experience is highly desirable. The candidate must be able to plan and deliver work on a cyclical basis, have strong attention to detail, and be able to build positive relationships with people from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, including representing the BPP in communication with regulators.
