Purpose of the role
The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a field-based Medical Affairs Associate at Novartis, who develops and leads scientific engagement and long-term relationships with Medical Experts/Key Stakeholders within the healthcare environment. In this role, you will strategically prepare and support the development, launch, and commercialization of Novartis products through scientific exchange by seeking external insights to shape Novartis’ understanding of the therapeutic environment and by responding to unsolicited requests for scientific information and implementing clinical and educational strategies.
This role is part of the Medical Affairs team and reports directly to the National MSL Lead.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Engage with Medical Experts (MEs) to educate on medical/scientific information.
* Ensure appropriate identification/mapping of MEs/Key Accounts, including identification of opportunities to involve MEs when a specific medical need is identified to provide support.
* Develop and execute ME engagement plans to effectively prioritize and strategically engage MEs aligned with country strategy.
* Respond to unsolicited requests for information from MEs.
* Inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful insights from MEs.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, commercial, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment and effective delivery of medical information and insights.
* Develop, plan, implement and timely execute field medical tactic & medical engagement plan, aligned with the brand strategy.
* Support Novartis clinical research programs, optimize trial execution, and provide scientific educational support to potential and actual study sites in collaboration with clinical operations.
* Facilitate Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) process upon investigator request.
* Serve as a medical resource to field matrix colleagues.
What you’ll bring to the role:
* MD, PharmaD, or PhD degree or Master’s degree with additional qualifications/certifications in health/life sciences.
* Solid medical/technical background and expertise knowledge in the respective scientific area.
* Business fluent in French and English; knowledge of German and Italian would be a plus.
* Good knowledge of all aspects of drug development, GCP, and local regulations.
* Demonstrated excellence in collaborating across boundaries and stakeholder engagement. Strong networking mindset.
* Excellent analytical & planning skills.
* Strong scientific communication and presentation skills.
* Digital & Technology Savvy.
* Readiness to work in a field force team.
* Willingness to travel within the assigned geographic area as required to meet with MEs, investigators, and study sites.
Desirable Requirements:
* Several years of experience in Pharma, preferably in a similar role with a strong customer/patient focus.
* Experience in project management and planning of events would be a plus.
