JOB FUNCTION AND SCOPE
Tooling and Process Engineering Design Engineer supports all manufacturing processes throughout the manufacturing process by utilizing solid modeling to convey part design requirements, machine component geometry, plant layout changes, and other manufacturing support activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Tooling Development (50%)
1. Create and revise tooling designs for Core Boxes, Molds, Machining fixtures, Polishing and Buffing fixtures, grippers, test fixtures and other shop equipment.
2. Work closely with the Tool Makers and Management team to fabricate new and revise existing tooling for the reduction of scrap, modification for automation, and best practices.
3. Lead design review meetings with process stakeholders.
4. Interface with new product design team to optimize new products for manufacturability in the permanent mold casting process.
2. Process Improvement (25%)
1. Identify and initiate improvements to the manufacturing process and set-up processes to improve yield and reduce equipment downtime.
2. Participate in safety committee activities and provide design support for safety improvements.
3. Manufacturing Support (15%)
1. Provide recommendations for process flow and facility improvements.
2. Justification and project management for small capital projects.
3. Participate in coordination and tracking of production samples throughout the production process.
4. Other duties as assigned (10%)
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
Must have an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical design or other Engineering Technology.
Ability to read blueprints.
3 - 5 years’ experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
5 or more years’ of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Experience and/or training with Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
3 – 5 years’ of experience in a foundry environment.
3 – 5 years’ of experience in tool design.
Experience and/or training with any of the following: SolidWorks EPDM, Cimatron, SAP, and Flow 3D or similar applications.
Experience with 3D printing.
